Ian M is a Barcelona-based photographer with a versatile portfolio encompassing both film and digital photography. His works have been featured in publications such as British Vogue, Kaltblut Magazine, VICE, Sora, Container Love, L’effronte journal, and ArtPLAY Magazine, among others.
Specializing in portrait photography, Ian M also demonstrates interest in the fields of fine art and documentary photography. His distinctive approach centers around the concept of capturing the naturality of the subject matter.
In addition to this, Ian is interested in exploring themes related to queer identity and voyeurism. Ian’s work delves into the complex relationships between seeing, being seen, and power. His photography examines the ways in which photography itself can function as a form of voyeurism.
“I aim to capture those spontaneous moments when the model is no longer conscious of the camera’s presence – when they feel at ease and forget they are being observed. On the other hand, rather than presenting the expected or complete image, my approach is to leave room for the viewer’s imagination, inviting them to complete the photo in their own way.”
